History

This narrative is based on the song Fuzzy Monster by The Green Demons. The band is an independent alternative rock group based out of New Orleans. You can sample more of their music with the embedded player below.

The song was licensed through the Vimeo Music Store. I chose it purely because it tells a story with characters, it was an appropriate length for the project, and it was available to license for two bucks! While the narrative is a bit dark and disturbing, it did provide a good platform for creativity.

The video and artwork for the site were created from scratch by myself.

The video is displayed using the HTML5 video element. It has been encoded into three different video codecs for compatibility with different browsers. The original video was encoded with the H.264 codec used by Safari. Then copies were made with the WebM codec (for Chrome), and Ogg codec (for Firefox) using Firefogg.

Finally, the interactivity between the html page and the video was made possible with the open source JavaScript library Popcorn JS.
